Without a message ID you get a link to the channel.

@everyone and @here

These are plain text – just type @everyone or @here. Whether anyone gets pinged depends on the “Mention @everyone, @here and All Roles” permission. For webhooks and bots, allowed_mentions controls it.

Hey @Nelly, check out #general! Use /ticket open to open a ticket.
Starts: Friday, January 1, 2027 at 12:00 AM · Pick roles: Channels & Roles
https://discord.com/channels/41771983423143937/41771983423143937/1293458201946210304

Names in the preview are placeholders – only Discord knows the real names.

How it works

  1. Turn on Developer Mode in Discord under Settings → Advanced.
  2. Right-click a user, role, channel or message → “Copy ID”.
  3. Paste the ID into the matching builder – a full mention or link works too.
  4. Copy the finished syntax into your message, embed or bot code.

The decoder finds every mention, emoji, timestamp, command and message link in pasted text and shows when each ID was created. An ID doesn't say what it belongs to – only when it was made.

FAQ

How do I mention a slash command so it's clickable?

With </name:COMMAND_ID>, for subcommands </name sub:ID> and with a group </name group sub:ID>. You find the ID in Server Settings under Integrations.

What is the syntax for users, roles and channels?

User: <@ID>, role: <@&ID>, channel: <#ID>. The old user form <@!ID> still works but isn't needed any more.

How do I use custom emoji in bots and webhooks?

With <:name:ID>, animated ones with <a:name:ID>. You see the finished syntax if you type \:emoji: in Discord and send it.

Do I need special syntax for @everyone?

No, @everyone and @here are plain text. Whether anyone actually gets pinged depends on the sender's permission – for webhooks and bots on allowed_mentions.

What does <id:customize> mean?

It links to part of the server: <id:customize> opens Channels & Roles, <id:browse> Browse Channels, <id:guide> the Server Guide and <id:linked-roles> Linked Roles.
